Southeast Missouri State University

Transfer Student Checklist

(for students who will have completed 24 or more transferable hours)

At least 24 hours after being admitted to Southeast, activate your Southeast Key (SE Key) at the My Southeast Portal. Under My Southeast Help, click Activate SE Key. You will need your Southeast ID, available on your transcript evaluation or from your admissions counselor, in order to activate your new SE Key. We highly recommend setting up the Password Reset Facility at this time, in case you forget your newly created password. Your SE Key provides access to the student portal system (i.e. e-mail, course Web sites, registration), printing in computer labs, and RESNet (high speed Internet access on campus).  If you have any questions or problems, contact the Information Technology Help Desk, Academic 140, at (573) 651-4357.

Log in to My Southeast and check your Student Advisor Information.  If your major/minor information is NOT correct, please contact the Registrar’s Office at (573) 651-2474 to update your information. (Note: My Southeast is available between 4 a.m. and 9 p.m., 7 p.m. on Saturdays.)

Consider registering for Transfer Student Orientation to become better acquainted with campus and meet with your advisor.  This orientation is highly recommended, but not required. You will have opportunities to discuss specific transfer concerns, financial aid and student life. You will receive a copy of the Undergraduate Bulletin, make your Student ID and participate in an interactive tour of campus. Contact New Student Programs at (573) 651-5166 to register.

If you choose not to attend a Transfer Orientation, you must:

  • Schedule an appointment with your advisor.
  • Ask for your copy of the Undergraduate Bulletin in the Registrar’s Office, Academic 129.
  • Create your Southeast Student ID at ID Services, near the information desk on the third floor of the University Center.  The cost of the ID will be billed to your Southeast account.
  • Familiarize yourself with campus – location of buildings and other campus resources.

Apply for a commuter or resident parking permit (if desired).  For fall admits, a lottery is usually conducted in early July for students (with 30+ hours) wanting Preferred parking. You may apply via Parking Permit on My Southeast.  For spring or summer admits, please contact the Department of Public Safety (DPS) directly as the computer is not able to pro-rate costs. For questions or further information about parking types and locations, please visit their Web site or call (573) 651-2310.

Rent your textbooks at Textbook Services, in the basement of Kent Library. Textbooks are typically available one week before the fall and spring classes.  Summer dates vary.  You must have your student ID and class schedule to pick up textbooks. For questions, please call (573) 651-2236.

Check your financial aid and billing situation via Financial Account Information and Financial Aid Menu on My Southeast. An Installment Payment Plan (IPP) is available.  If you have any questions, please call Student Financial Services, Academic 123, at (573) 651-2253.

Upon completion of your final semester, please request an updated transcript be sent the Office of Admissions to ensure all credit is received.
