The Student Research Conference is financially supported by a grant from Funding for Results, as well as by a gift from Phi Kappa Phi to support the students who win a Research Presentation Award.
Purpose
The Annual Southeast Missouri State University Student Research Conference encourages research by undergraduate and graduate students in all disciplines, and provides a setting for students to present their work in a professional manner.
Dates and Times
April 17-18, 2013. The conference MAY run from 8:00 a.m. to about 5:00 p.m. on both days and follow the class schedules for both days.
Location
The Student Research Conference will be held in the University Center. Paper Presentations will be occur in the University Center Ballroom.
Program
Students will present their papers and posters in a conference format. Two or three concurrent sessions will run throughout each day.
Types of Works
Empirical, as well as Theoretical and Review works are invited. Each paper must be sponsored by a Southeast Missouri State University faculty member/instructor. Acceptance of submissions will be based on the validity of the work as a research endeavor appropriate to the particular discipline in which it was conducted (see acceptance criteria).
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for presentation, the paper should be the primary work of an undergraduate or graduate student (or students) with the student(s) listed as the primary author(s) of the submitted paper. All presenters must be students.
Responsibility to Present
If your research is accepted, you will be notified regarding your presentation time. After that, you or a substitute will be expected to present, except in the case of severe extenuating circumstances. You will be expected to arrive in time for the beginning of your session (same as a normal class period), and to stay for the entire session in which you present. If your paper presentation is accepted, you will be expected to present a talk that lasts for 11-13 minutes, leaving 2-4 minutes for questions from the audience at the end.
