Baseball Fan Interns with Nashville Outlaws

Southeast Missouri State University sport management alumnus Jared Swantner is interning with the Nashville Outlaws, a collegiate summer baseball team of the Prospect League.

The O’Fallon, Mo., native is the team’s sales and ticketing director. He runs the ticket office and is responsible for merchandise and sponsorship sales.

“The internship is giving me real-world experience in the sports field,” he said. “I like the assignments I work on and that I am doing the job of a full-time employee.”

After his internship, Jared plans to continue his career in professional sports, preferably baseball. He said his time at Southeast has contributed to his success.

“Moving away from my parents and knowing that I had to go to class on my own helped me mature and focus on my future employment goals,” he said.

During his time off from school, Jared enjoys traveling. His favorite destination is Panama City Beach, Fla., where he visited during spring break with his friends from Sigma Chi.

He said he values the time he spent with his fraternity brothers. Together, they would ride scooters around Cape Girardeau and commit their time to various volunteer organizations, including the Special Olympics, the Salvation Army, the Children’s Miracle Network and the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Jared encourages future Southeast students to make as many new friends as possible.

"Get out and meet new people. Enjoy the time you have in college, because it will fly by,” he said.
