Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (OSEH) Policy
The University will follow, where applicable, the latest regulations and standards of these agencies: Occupational Safety and Health Administration, United States Environmental Protection Agency, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. This list is not all-inclusive but does cite the major agencies whose codes, standards, and regulations will be utilized. The Vice President for Business and Finance is responsible for assuring that Operating Procedures are developed to implement this policy.
The Department of Risk Management alsoprovides training on occupational safety and environmental health topics. Elements of the University's OSEH Program are provided below, along with currently available trainingand online resource documents describing safety and environmental health protocols. It is thepolicy of the University to follow appropriate environmental and safety regulations.
Biological and Chemical Laboratory Safety
Facilitates safety by providing training on Hazard Communication, Laboratory Safety and Blood borne Pathogens, and by conducting safety inspections for laboratories and fume hoods.

Hazardous Waste and Environmental Management
The Hazardous Materials Management Program provides for the proper identification, labeling, manifesting, collecting and disposal of biological and chemical materials. The Environmental Management Program assists the University in compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to storage tanks, air, soil, water, site investigations, remediation and other environmental issues.

Pollution Prevention
Provides assistance to the University community in waste minimization procedures.
Industrial Hygiene and Safety Program
Works to monitor health, safety and sanitation concerns throughout the campus community; assists in the selection of appropriate control measures; and provides training programs to assure compliance with established state and federal regulations.

Provides health and safety services to Facilities Management, conducts Respirator Fit Testing, administers the Medical Surveillance Program, and Hazard Communication Training.
Radiation Safety
The campus Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) is responsible for the safe handling and disposal of low-level radioactive waste.
