My daughter called me and is feeling sick. Where can she go to get assistance?

Students can seek medical attention, assistance in dealing with personal problems, counseling and information on health and educational programs from the Center for Health and Counseling (CHC) in Crisp Hall 101; phone (573) 651-2270; e-mail chc@semo.edu; Web site at http://www4.semo.edu/chc.

The CHC has walk-in clinic hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The walk in clinic provides minor acute care treatment of illness and injury, laboratory tests, physical examinations/consultations, health care and physician referrals, immunizations (tetanus, measles, TB testing, flu, and hepatitis B), medications and special equipment (crutches, ice packs, heating pads). Additionally, the clinic, staffed by registered nurses, also provides Family Nurse Practitioner Services. The Family Nurse Practitioner provides "well woman" exams, performs advanced care procedures such as suturing, allergy shots, management of chronic health care concerns, and writes prescriptions for students. In case of a medical emergency after normal clinic hours, the two local hospitals, Southeast Missouri Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center both offer 24-hour-a-day walk-in medical clinics.
