Museum Offering Portrait Oil Painting Workshop for Adults
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 23, 2010 – The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus will offer portrait oil painting workshops for adults beginning Nov. 30.
Artist Cleda Curtis-Neal will present the workshops on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon beginning Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 through Dec. 21 and 22.
Beginning as well as advanced artists will benefit from this dynamic and rewarding four-week learning experience. Lessons will include: shape and line identification, compositional design, lighting subject and background, mixing fleshtone values and forming facial features.
Curtis-Neal became internationally known for her book “Portrait Painting Simplified” published in 1988. She earned a bachelor of arts from University of the Ozarks and a master of arts from Portland State University. She has also studied under respected portrait artists Daniel Greene and John Howard Sanden. She also owns and operates a private art school and has been teaching portrait painting since 1970.
