Southeast Public Radio to Broadcast Special Featuring Songwriter Randy Newman

Southeast Public Radio announces plans to air a special edition of "Bob Edwards Weekend" featuring songwriter Randy Newman.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., July 25, 2007 -- Southeast Public Radio announces plans to air a special edition of "Bob Edwards Weekend" featuring songwriter Randy Newman. The program will air at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, following a "Weekend Edition Sunday."

Recorded live on March 30 at Seattle's famed Paramount Theater, "Bob Edwards and Randy Newman" showcases a great host and a grand artist in a rich, full hour of music and conversation. Bob and Randy discuss everything from politics and music to world history and songwriting.

Randy not only treats listeners to an exclusive performance of some of his best-loved songs, like "Short People" and "Louisiana," he also performs his new single, "A Word in Defense of Our Country."

Heard on public radio stations across the country, "Bob Edwards Weekend" is a two-hour interview showcase, in which celebrated host Bob Edwards highlights the life and work of interesting people from newsmakers, historians and authors to artists, actors and regular folks too.
