Marie has been with the Department of Management and Marketing from January 2004 to the present, the Department of Marketing from February 1988 to December 2003, and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology from 1986-1988. She obtained her Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) in November 1997 and recertified in 2002 and 2007. She enjoys working with computers and is proficient using many software programs including: WordPerfect Office Suite; Microsoft Office Suite, FrontPage Suite and Publisher; Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and is familiar with Illustrator, Quicken, QuarkXPress and a variety of other graphics/software programs. She really enjoys working and interacting with students and faculty.

Marie's activities outside of work include traveling, computer graphics, cooking, reading, dancing, and crafts (mainly crocheting) when time permits.

Marie is an active member and Past President of the Girardot Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). She is a past officer and an active member/representative of the Clerical Technical Staff Council at Southeast Missouri State University.

The Marketing Management Association presented Marie Steinhoff its "Marketing Excellence Award" in recognition of her contributions to the association and to the field of marketing at the March 2009 MBAA Conference in Chicago, Illinois.
