Dr. Kendra Whitcher-Skinner, joined the University in 2004 and has served as the Associate Director for Student and Staff Development since 2007. In her role as Associate Director, Whitcher-Skinner is directly responsible for promoting a sense of community and an environment for personal growth within the residence halls through the selection, training, and supervision of 9 Hall Directors & 2 Graduate Hall Directors; the training and selection of approximately 100 student Resident Assistants; the residence life conduct process; programming; and staff development in the residence halls.
Whitcher-Skinner is originally from Iowa where she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Iowa Wesleyan College and her Master of Science degree in higher education administration from Iowa State University. Whitcher-Skinner recently completed her doctoral work towards a Doctorate of Education in educational leadership from the University of Missouri. Her research compared the styles of housing available for first-year students at Southeast.
Whitcher-Skinner is married to Warren, a Coordinator with Career Linkages at Southeast. Outside of work, Whitcher-Skinner enjoys spending time with her two dogs (Sable & Trixie), following professional football, reading, and target shooting.
