The New Residence Hall is located adjacent to Otto and Della Seabaugh Polytechnic Building, Robert A. Dempster Hall and Marvin Rosengarten Athletic Complex. New Hall is a suite style community with double occupancy student room connected by a shared entrance and bathroom. The residence hall has multiple small living rooms throughout the building, a large game room/kitchenette, laundry room, and multiple study lounges on each floor.
In addition to the unique room layout, New Hall is home to many of the Residential Learning Communities. The student population of New Hall is a mix of new and returning students. Most students in our learning communities are new students, with some upper level students who were previous members of the learning community remaining on the floor to help support the program. Although most beds in the new residence hall are allocated to our learning communities program, there are very limited spaces for new students who want to live in New Hall, but not participate in one of the learning communities.
For our first year and learning community floors there are specially trained Resident Assistants who work to develop a supportive environment for members of each community. The Resident Assistants and Hall Director are familiar with the typical (and not so typical!) needs and concerns of college students - and the staff is there to help.
Each room is equipped with a cable TV and phone line (phone service not included in the room rate and must be contracted for separately with Telecommunications). There is a LAN (Local Area Network) ports for each resident of the room and wireless access throughout the residence hall. Room measurements (approximate) are - 10'9" W x 17'5" L x 10' H. Window sizes are 3’ 4” W x 6’ 8” H, there are two windows in the room (side-by-side). Mattresses in New Hall are extra-long twin size (80” long).
