Mrs. Slattery teaches a variety of courses in the Physical Education Pedagogy area. She currently teaches Rhythm, Plays and Games, Fitness Conditioning, Individual Sports, First Year Seminar, Sport and Society, and Tennis.

Her primary interest lies in the area of preparing students to become well-rounded physical education teachers who enjoy working with children in creative movement experiences along with other various forms of dance. Mrs. Slattery has more than 31 years of Physical Education teaching experience at the high school level, most of those in the public school district of Cape Girardeau. In addition, she has expertise in teaching group exercise, tennis, track and field, and is a certified Yoga instructor. She is a member of the Missouri Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and, Dance. (MOAOHERD), and currently serves as District Representative and as a member of the Cadre. Her 25 years of coaching experience have led her to provide community service assisting local teams in tennis and track.
