Admissions Policies/Requirements

Individuals admitted to the MBA program must have an undergraduate degree in AACSB accredited business program or the equivalent from an accredited institution. For more information, please see the MBA admission requirements page.

Courses and Curriculum

The MBA Program requires 33 credit hours to graduate; 24 hours of core courses, 9 hours of elective courses determined by option. See the Graduate Bulletin for details.

Accreditations

In addition to full accreditation by the North Central Association, the Harrison College of Business holds the prestigious accreditation of AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. AACSB accreditation affirms the high-level quality of the programs and services in the Harrison College of Business and the commitment to continuous improvement. Accreditation highlights include a dynamic faculty, an ergonomic, efficient and beautiful business building completed in 1996, and state-of-the art technology which allows students to experience the finest in technological instruction and to receive programs and instruction from around the world via satellite technology.

Career Opportunities

As managers progress within organizations, the technical expertise that helped them to obtain their first jobs often becomes less important, and their abilities to organize the work of others and to help decide what course of action the organization should take become more valuable. As the environment of an organization becomes more complex, there is an increased demand for managers with the skills, understanding, courage, and energy to tackle the difficult demands facing organizations of all kinds. The MBA program also provides the opportunity to meet continuing education requirements while earning an advanced degree.

Real-World Experience

Students may participate in business internships for credit during their academic program. Students may also participate in international study programs and semester study abroad programs.

In a number of Master of Business Administration classes, students will do consulting with “for profit” and “not for profit” businesses.

Graduate Assistantship Opportunities

There are currently 15 graduate assistant positions in the Master of Business Administration Program. Please contact the Master of Business Administration office for information on openings and the application procedure.

Student Organizations

The Master of Business Administration Association provides both professional and social networking opportunities for Master of Business Administration students. Also Graduate Student Advisory Council is a group for all graduate students.

Capstone Requirements

All Master of Business Administration students have the opportunity to complete an Applied Research Project that focuses on the student’s primary area of interest in business.

Facilities

Dempster Hall is one of the newest comprehensive facility in the state of Missouri to support undergraduate and graduate business programs. It is a technology-rich learning environment that contains a large array of hands-on business technology for students to use, including Internet access for all students.

Completed in 1996, this $15.8 million building continues to be a state-of-the art environment designed to allow students to experience the finest in technological instruction and to receive programs and instruction from around the world via satellite technology. The building provides an ergonomic, efficient and beautiful atmosphere for learning today’s latest business tools.
