Resolution 13-2 Department Chair Vacancy

FACULTY SENATE                                SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY                                    FACULTY SENATE RESOLUTION 13- 2    

WHEREAS:  Current language in the Faculty Handbook in the section on Department Chairs (Chapter 1, Section F9) regarding the selection process has resulted in difficulty of interpretation of  the selection process.  

BE IT RESOLVED THAT:  Until revision of this section is approved, let the initial step in the search process be adopted as follows, “When the chairpersonship vacancy occurs, the Department, Dean and Provost will consult, and the Provost will determine whether the search process should be internal or national.  Upon search approval, the Department shall then follow the proceeding steps, as applicable.”
