Accelerating Entrepreneurship in the Delta is an activity of the Delta Region Microenterprise Development Alliance, a regional entrepreneurship initiative developed by the Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The goal is to build entrepreneurial capacity that improves the quality of lives, businesses, and communities in the lower Mississippi delta region parishes and counties that make up the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) target area. This includes the eight DRA states of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee. Accelerating Entrepreneurship in the Delta is funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Through Accelerating Entrepreneurship in the Delta, the Delta Region Microenterprise Development Alliance presents a series of certification workshops designed to equip organizations in the eight DRA states with the tools and training needed to jump-start their microenterprise development efforts. The workshops will feature Operation JumpStart: First Step, a nationally-recognized microenterprise development curriculum that offers hands-on activities, stimulating workbook materials, interactive small group exercises, and rich online resources. Attendees will receive certification training, technical assistance, and resources to implement the Operation JumpStart program in their communities.
