Our Mission

The Center for Collaborative Advising is dedicated to assisting students in developing their abilities to make well-informed academic decisions by providing accurate information regarding degree requirements. In collaboration with Career Services, we will help students gain the necessary skills to set and reach their educational and career goals.

We Serve. . . . . . .

Exploratory (Undecided) Students

If you are an exploratory/undecided student, you are not alone. Over one-fourth of students at Southeast come in unsure of what major to choose or what career path to follow. In collaboration with Career Services, we will help student gain the necessary skills to set and reach educational and career goals.

Bachelor of General Studies majors

Students majoring in General Studies may declare the major and be advised in the Collaborative Advising Center. Students will be assisted in selecting courses to meet career goals. Bachelor of General Studies Program Information

Pre-Nursing majors

Students wishing to major in nursing are considered pre-nursing until they become admitted to the nursing program. Beginning freshmen pre-nursing students are advised their first year in the Collaborative Advising Center. Students who have below a 2.75 G.P.A. after the first year at Southeast will continue to be advised in the Collaborative Center. Our center works closely with Career Services in assisting pre-nursing students as they explore solutions for success.

Pre-Mass Communication majors

Students wishing to major in mass communication are considered pre-mass communication until they meet admission criteria set by the Department of Mass Media. Students are advised in Collaborative Advising if they have fewer than 15 credit hours, have not yet completed EN100 (or EN140) with a grade of C or higher and who do not have a 2.5 cumulative and major G.P.A.
