Teacher Education Program General Requirements

Students Admitted to the University Before Fall 2013

The criteria for admission to the College of Education Teacher Education program is a 2.5 cumulative GPA and passage of all sections of the C-Base with a 235. In addition, students must have completed:

  • 57 hours of course credits, EN140 completed with a grade of “C” or above
  • Block I successfully passed with "credit" or "C" or above
    • EL120 or ED250 for elementary
    • SE222 or SE 202 or ED250 for secondary
    • SE200 or ED 251 for secondary

Beginning Fall 2013

Students admitted to the university Fall 2013 and thereafter must meet the new standards for Admission to Teacher Education established by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. A new admission test is currently under construction. Students will take this new exam beginning Fall 2014. GPA standards will also be changing beginning Fall 2013.
