Southeast Missouri State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (NCA-HLC). In recognition of its commitment to quality improvement principles, Southeast has been accepted into the HLC's Academic Quality Improvement Program -- one of three accreditation processes offered by the HLC.
The AQIP process is continuous and involves maintaining a minimum of three Action Projects at any given time. The process is overseen by the University AQIP Steering Committee, whose members include faculty, administrators, staff, and students. As required by the AQIP review process, the University submitted a Systems Portfolio on May 31, 2010. The Portfolio was reviewed and the University received the HLC's formal response in September 2010.
External AQIP reviewers visited the campus in September of 2012 and conducted a Quality Checkup Visit. In December of 2012 Southeast received a Reaffirmation of Accreditation from the HLC. Southeast is accredited through the 2019-2020 academic year at which time the campus will be up for the next reaffirmation of accreditation.
